At a logistics center in Xiamen, vehicles and cranes shuttle back and forth loading containers onto railway wagons. Soon after, a China-Europe freight train, consisting of 50 containers, filled with daily necessities, auto parts and other products, left Haicang Station in Xiamen, bound for Hamburg, Germany. This is the 1,000th train of the China-Europe freight train (Xiamen).
Since the first train was put into operation on August 16, 2015, the China-Europe Railway Express (Xiamen) has opened its service lines to Central Europe, Central Asia and China and Russia, reaching more than 30 cities in 12 countries, including Poland, Hungary, Germany and Russia.
The China-Europe freight train has the characteristics of safety, large volume, little influence from environment and climate and low freight price. Take the Xiamen to Hamburg train as an example, this train from Xiamen free trade zone, can arrive at the destination in 16 days, transportation time is saved two thirds compared with sea transportation, become a new choice of import and export trade.
In the past five years, the China-Europe Railway Express (Xiamen) has completed a total of nearly 80,000 TU with a cargo value of more than 3 billion US dollars (including inter-city cooperation trains). The cargo categories cover electronics, machinery, daily necessities, food, wood products and other categories, with more than 1,000 kinds of subdivided products.
Against the background of global epidemic prevention and control, the China-Europe freight train has become an important logistics channel to ensure trade between China and Europe, smooth transportation of epidemic prevention materials for international cooperation, smooth international supply chain and industrial chain, and serve the rapid development of local economy and society. Last year, the China-Europe Railway Express (Xiamen) ran 273 trains, carrying 24,112 TEUs with a total weight of 142,400 tons and a cargo value of 962 million US dollars, up 17%, 36%, 59% and 40% respectively from the same period last year. All indicators hit a record high.
