The 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade, which will be held from Sept 8 to 11 in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, has been recognized by the local environmental authority as the first pilot fair for carbon neutrality in the city.
The organizing committee has implemented the country's new development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing, which has been realized in the design and construction of the exhibition venue, as well as the topics that will be discussed at the fair.
The exhibition venue features creative and pragmatic designs that are easy to assembled and disassembled, while all building materials are durable and reusable. Any disposable non-degradable plastic products are forbidden in the preparation of the fair.
The fair will also minimize the use of high-consumption electric devices, such as big screens, strictly control audio levels, eliminate the use of paper, and strictly implement garbage sorting.
In addition, RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology will be used to check attendees' identification, health, and other anti-epidemic information, increasing efficiency and reducing the materials required for traditional security checks.
A series of activities themed around energy conservation and environmental protection will be held during the 21st CIFIT as well.
They include a summit on investment and financing in the carbon neutrality industry in Xiamen and a seminar discussing low-carbon cooperation between Chinese provinces and states in the United States.
